640 Meats' customers often come back several times a week for fresh cuts of meat — ribeyes, bacon-wrapped filets, ground beef – aged between 21 and 90 days for maximum tenderness."We can cut anything they want, any size they want," says owner Pete Lentz, a lifelong Rockford resident who started working at the store in 1995 and purchased it from its original owner in 2009. "It's all Midwest beef."The shop provides catering, holiday gift boxes and party platters and offers 15 kinds of signature bratwurst, frozen seafood, fresh-baked buns, vegetables and, for lunchtime visitors, hot and cold sandwiches."Exotic bison, ostrich and alligator meat is available via pre-orders," Lentz said. The seven-member staff also prepares restaurant meat supplies. |
